Tarsheed Energy is committed to Bahrain’s National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP)

According to the SDG 7 issue brief by the United Nations Environment Program, about 1 billion people still live without electricity. Hospitals, schools and residential areas are running without electricity. Billions more use energy to heat their homes and cook their food with electricity that comes from fossil fuels which contributes to more carbon emissions. Every year millions of people die from air pollution. Energy generated from the burning of fossil fuels, the world’s current largest energy source, is contributing to global warming and climate change.

One of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. This goal will work towards combating climate change, improving economies, increasing energy access for all and ensuring a sustainable world.

Bahrain is committed to the international Paris Agreement, the UN’s SDGs, Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 as well as the regional league of Arab States Renewable Energy Network.

Bahrain’s national renewable energy target is to rely on 5% energy technologies by 2025 and 10% by 2035 – an energy mix consisting of solar, wind and waste to energy technologies. Bahrain will thus reduce its reliance on imported energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve its economy, decrease electricity peak demand, generate clean energy, will also conserve Bahrain’s natural energy source.

We all have a role to play in achieving a more sustainable living environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain where carbon emissions are reduced, pollution is minimized and sustainable energy is more sourced.
